Becky Puma
Behavior Health Technician
Becky Puma is a Behavioral Health Technician at St. John’s Recovery Place (SJRP). New to the behavioral health field, she brings a willingness to learn and a professional background centered on caring for others. Becky has a high school education and previously worked in preschools for 17 years. She also spent five years as a nanny and babysitter for military families in California.
At SJRP, Becky supports clients throughout their time in treatment. She approaches this responsibility with compassion and a sincere interest in the people she serves. Being available to listen and offering someone the opportunity to share questions or concerns are central to how she wants clients to experience her support. She enjoys working with both clients and coworkers and values the personal connections that are part of her everyday work.
A good listener, Becky makes an effort to understand where others are coming from. Her approach begins with compassion and respect for each person’s experience. Whether interacting with a client, family member, or colleague, she hopes people feel respected and comfortable coming to her when they need support.
Becky’s own experience with getting sober inspired her to enter the recovery field. That personal connection informs her understanding of what clients may be going through and her passion for helping them. She brings this perspective to her work while listening to each person’s individual experiences and concerns.
Outside of SJRP, Becky enjoys spending time with her family, her partner, and her kitten.
As she builds her experience in behavioral health, Becky remains focused on helping clients feel heard and respected. Her compassion, willingness to learn, and personal understanding of recovery contribute to SJRP’s mission of helping people achieve recovery, rebuild their lives, and find renewed purpose.
