Brenda Dornbach is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Therapist at St. John’s Recovery Place (SJRP), bringing 10 years of professional experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatment. She holds a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling, is licensed in Florida and Utah, and is an EMDR-approved therapist. Her background spans inpatient, residential, and outpatient behavioral health settings, supporting individuals with complex mental health and substance use disorders who often require intensive care.

At SJRP, Brenda provides individual and group therapy, completes clinical assessments, and develops treatment plans. She helps clients address substance use, mental health concerns, trauma, and underlying issues that may interfere with recovery. Her experience includes working with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorders, grief and loss, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Compassionate and down-to-earth, Brenda takes a collaborative, straightforward approach to therapy. She meets clients where they are while encouraging growth and accountability, recognizing that each person brings different experiences, strengths, and needs. Her ability to remain calm and focused during significant emotional distress complements her supportive, nonjudgmental working style. She wants clients, families, and coworkers to feel comfortable, respected, and heard, with room to communicate openly.

Brenda chose this field out of a desire to help people through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. She is especially passionate about trauma treatment and understanding the issues that contribute to addiction. Building genuine connections with clients is one of the most meaningful parts of her work, alongside helping them recognize their strengths and watching their confidence and hope grow.

Outside of work, Brenda enjoys spending time with her family and has a love for cars.

Through thoughtful clinical care and an appreciation for each person’s capacity for change, Brenda supports SJRP’s mission of helping people achieve recovery, rebuild their lives, and find renewed purpose. Her work centers on helping clients move through difficult experiences with support and recognize that meaningful recovery is possible.
