Sharmellius Banks
Behavior Health Technician
Sharmellius Banks serves as a Behavior Health Technician at St. John’s Recovery Place, bringing previous experience working with older adults in a nursing home setting. SJRP marks Sharmellius’s first professional experience in a recovery facility and an opportunity to build on that background while learning about a new environment and the people it serves.
A welcoming manner is central to Sharmellius’s working style. Getting to know new people and listening to what they have to say are meaningful parts of the job. In interactions with clients, families, and coworkers, Sharmellius emphasizes kindness and giving people space to be heard. This personal approach supports the sense of welcome and respect that matters in a treatment setting, where everyday conversations are part of the experience of receiving support.
One of the most rewarding aspects of working at SJRP is the opportunity to learn unfamiliar tasks and develop new skills. Sharmellius enjoys discovering how to do things that were not part of previous work experience, approaching this professional transition with an interest in learning.
Through a willingness to grow, a focus on helping others, and a kind approach to communication, Sharmellius contributes to SJRP’s mission of helping people achieve recovery, rebuild their lives, and find renewed purpose.
