Substance Abuse Counselor (LMHCI License)

Sharon earned her Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology, specialization in Clinical Counseling with honors from Capella University in 2022 and is currently working towards licensure.  She has experience working with people of all ages from diverse backgrounds, cultures and belief systems and is passionate about helping individuals, families, and relationships of any kind to help people more wholly connect with themselves and others.

Sharon has worked with both adolescents and adults who have behavioral and emotional disorders such as oppositional defiance disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, anger management, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety and poor coping skills.  She is thrilled to be working at Saint John’s Recovery Place as a substance abuse counselor that takes a person-centered approach and loves doing therapy with clients and their families to help them navigate and cope with life threatening challenges in their life.

Sharon strives to assist all of her clients and their families to process emotions and learn coping skills to deal with everyday stressors and decrease symptoms. Her empathy and warmth help to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can process and heal.  Sharon helps her clients learn to identify triggers, notice warning signs, and find ways to better prepare themselves for oncoming stressors and challenges.  Sharon utilizes CBT, DBT, and trauma focused approaches and the clients at SJRP will find her office to be a safe, confidential space that is warm and welcoming to all who wish to enter.
