Spenser Trinkle
Admissions & Alumni Coordinator
Spenser Trinkle, M.S. serves as Admissions & Alumni Coordinator at St. John’s Recovery Place, bringing a unique perspective to the recovery field through both his academic background and personal experience with the treatment and recovery process. Spenser holds a Master of Science in Psychology and has built his professional career around behavioral health and addiction recovery.
After walking through the doors of St. John’s Recovery Place during one of the most difficult periods of his life, Spenser found the support, guidance, and belief in his potential that helped him begin building a life in recovery.
Today, Spenser helps guide individuals and families through the admissions process, serving as one of the first points of contact for those considering treatment. He understands that reaching out for help can be one of the most difficult decisions a person makes and strives to make that process as comfortable, informative, and supportive as possible. He also works closely with the SJRP alumni community, helping maintain connections with individuals long after they complete treatment.
Spenser’s approach to his work is shaped by both his education and his own experience in recovery. He understands the fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability that often come with asking for help because he has been on the other side of that phone call himself. His goal is to make sure each person feels heard, respected, and treated as an individual rather than simply another admission.
For Spenser, recovery is about much more than completing a program. It is a lifelong process of growth, accountability, healing, and learning how to live differently. He believes that a person’s past does not have to determine their future and that sometimes the person walking through the doors today simply needs someone to believe in them until they are able to believe in themselves.
The most meaningful part of Spenser’s role is knowing that a conversation, a phone call, or simply being willing to listen can potentially change the direction of someone’s life. Having personally experienced addiction and recovery, he understands how important it can be to have someone on the other end of the phone who genuinely understands what it feels like to be scared, lost, and unsure of what comes next.
Spenser considers it a privilege to now be part of the same recovery process that once helped change his own life. His personal journey gives him a perspective that he carries into every interaction, with the hope that each person and family he encounters knows that there is hope, that they are not alone, and that a different future is possible.
Outside of his work at St. John’s Recovery Place, Spenser enjoys spending time with his wife and children, visiting Disney, and finding plenty of reasons to laugh. He remains committed to recovery and to helping change the narrative around addiction by showing that where someone comes from does not have to determine where they end up.
