As one of the largest health care providers in the U.S., Humana health insurance plans strive diligently to provide their consumers with affordable, and diverse coverage plans that can work for anyone. What is Humana’s mission? Humana works tirelessly to fulfill it’s bold goal, its commitment to providing employers–and thus health care consumers–with health coverage that is not only affordable, but of a high quality nature, with a focus on giving back to the communities that help make the company’s overall mission for improved global health a working reality.
If you or your loved one has an insurance policy with Humana health, you can rest assured that you are indeed, in good hands. But, being in good hands does not mean you get to slack off. Even if you have the best health insurance coverage you can possibly get from Humana, it is still important for you to learn about how your insurance policy works, and where it may not be able to help you, in the case of a future emergency or other life altering circumstance. Humana is one of the largest healthcare companies around, and it does very well for itself and its consumers. But, if you or a loved one struggles with addiction or a substance use disorder, you may want to do more research on your policy, to ensure that you know which drug rehabs that accept Humana insurance are in your area, and that your personal plan will allow you to receive substance abuse treatment with air or not. Every individual is different; thus every person’s needs are different. And, as a result, every insurance policy plan is different.
The Ins and Outs of Insurance Coverage
As we mentioned above, insurance is complex and confusing at times, but it works for every individual differently. As a result, it is important for every person to be familiar with their own insurance company, and their own insurance policy, so that they can better understand what their personal coverage entails for them at any given time. Insurance companies and policies may have many similarities, but no two will ever run exactly the same–just like no two drug and alcohol rehab centers will operate in the same way either. Some of the most well-known types of insurance policy plans include:
- Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans: Where clients are limited to receiving care from only doctors who work with or are contracted by the HMO itself.
- Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) Plans: Where clients enroll in a specific managed care plan that only allows for treatment coverage when using the company’s personal network of providers, except in the case of emergency treatment.
- Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plans: Where clients pay less for treatment services when they stick to using their company’s in-network providers but can also use out-of-network services without a referral, but at an additional cost.
- Point of Service (POS) Plans: Where clients can pay less for services, as long as they use doctors and facilities that belong to the insurance company’s personal network of providers, but are not forced to always stay within the network if they truly need (although they will pay more for out-of-network services).
Each of these plans can be broken down even further, typically divided into bronze, silver, gold, and platinum categories. These categories help explain the individual rates of the individual plans, with bronze plans holding the lowest premiums but sporting the highest costs on immediate care, and platinum plans sporting the highest premiums but the lowest costs of immediate health care. In order to better understand how bronze, silver, gold and platinum levels work in the different types of health insurance policies, it is important for you to try and have a basic understanding of the most common insurance terms known to humankind. Some of the most important insurance terms to know include:
- Deductibles: Are the amount a client owes / needs to pay for their health care services, before their insurance plan kicks in and begins to pay.
- Copayments: Are the amount a client pays for their share of the cost of their medical services, item, or doctors’ visits.
- Coinsurances: Are when the client’s share for the cost of their covered health care services and treatment are calculated by a percentage, normally around 20% of the total cost, for the allowed amount of the service.
- Premiums: Are the amount a client pays for their health insurance plan on a monthly basis.
- Networks: Are the doctors, hospitals, suppliers, and services that the client’s health insurance company has or does not have a contract with. In-network is for those that work with the insurer, out-of-network refers to those who work outside of the insurance company’s contracted community.
Understanding the general definitions, concepts and terms that make up health insurance plans can help reduce the anxiety of having to figure out health coverage for anyone. The insurance world is crazy and hard to understand, but you can get a better knowledge of it without driving yourself crazy, a knowledge that, in the long run, can help you save a lot of time, money and energy when looking into finding the right drug and alcohol rehab center for you.
How Addiction, Rehab and Health Insurance Work Around Each Other
Addiction, rehab, and health insurance all can be a lot alike. Each subject is seemingly straightforward in nature, but it is actually rather complex and frustrating in reality. The good news is that addiction is treatable, rehab is designed to be challenging but not impossible to succeed in, and health insurance is made to help consumers afford their medical treatments. The only other major concept these subjects share, is that you cannot sit back and expect the resolution to come easily to you. In order to beat addiction, you must learn about substance abuse and how to combat it. In order to succeed in drug and alcohol rehab, you must work hard to learn from your past mistakes and grow in your new therapeutic practices. In order to understand your insurance coverage–whether it is through Humana or another insurance company–you must do your research and not be afraid to ask questions.
At the end of the day, drug, and alcohol rehab–along with health insurance–are all made with the same goal in mind, to help you get and stay healthy. Not every drug and alcohol rehab center work in exactly the same manner, but each facility works diligently to provide clients with the same types of traditional therapeutic services, based on the same founding principles. Some of the most common drug and alcohol rehab services and treatments include:
- Medical detox services
- Inpatient / residential rehab services
- Partial hospitalization program (PHP) suggestions
- Outpatient rehab services
- Intensive outpatient rehab services
- Aftercare services
- Support groups
- Traditional therapies
Addiction is a difficult, chronic disease that affects the brain and the rest of the body. It is difficult to overcome, but not impossible. There are thousands of drug and alcohol rehab centers across the country, that work diligently to provide clients with quality care and services to help them recover. Humana insurance is one of the largest health insurance companies in the U.S. The network of providers works hard to provide their consumers with quality care. But, at the end of the day, whether your drug rehab accepts Humana insurance or not, depends on a variety of factors.
Not every insurance policy plan works the same, just like how not every drug and alcohol rehab program operates the same. Every state has a different set of regulations that apply to insurance policies and programs. So, even though you may have Humana insurance, and even though the company is available to use in almost every state, your coverage may change based on the regulations in the state you are looking to receive treatment in. Your coverage with Humana will depend on the state you are in, the services you are looking to have covered, as well as your personal policy. Luckily, if you or a loved one struggles with a substance use disorder or addiction, Humana does work diligently to help you cover the cost of your treatment. But, in order to find out more about how your personal policy will work for you, you must first contact your insurance company–by either calling the number on the back of your insurance card, or visiting your member portal online–and then look into the drug rehabs you are interested in, to see if the care providers are part of your health network, or will accept your insurance in part.
Addiction is hard, rehab can be a struggle and health insurance can be a frustrating concept to understand. But, at the end of the day, as long as you are working towards healing and getting better, you are already on the right track, and if you have any questions or concerns, there are a multitude of individuals here ready and willing to help you navigate through the crazy information overload, and answer any questions you may have. Don’t wait another day to begin your drug and alcohol recovery journey. Start now and begin to enjoy the benefits of healing sooner than later.
